The New York State Perinatal Association believes that:

  • All women are entitled to prenatal care no matter what the individual circumstances.
  • Women and families have the right to accurate and up-to-date information regarding current research, practices, legislation and trends which can affect their health decision-making - particularly those which influence informed choices for the prenatal period.
  • Healthy birth outcomes and ongoing development are affected by multiple factors which include a functioning family unit where physical, psycho-social and spiritual needs are met.

NYSPA promotes these beliefs by:

  • Educating those who are able to influence policy on prenatal care about issues affecting babies and families.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of research and trends in maternal/child health and a mechanism to distribute that information to the public, health professionals and key stakeholders.
