The Central New York Region consists of the counties of: Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, St.Lawrence, Tompkins and Tioga. This region includes 4 Perinatal Networks. The CNY region covers 12,624.12 square miles and is home to a population of 1,658,302. The region averages 19,000 births per year.

The Central New York Regional Perinatal Program (CNY-RPP) aims to promote healthy outcomes for women and children by ensuring that high risk mothers and their infants have timely access to a continuum of risk-appropriate obstetric and pediatric specialized care. To achieve this, each hospital that provides obstetrical care affiliates with a Regional Perinatal Center (RPC)and formulates an interinstutional agreement.

As an affiliate, hospitals receive a number of services from the RPC. The community obstetricians and pediatricians have access to consultative and specialized services. In Addition, The Statewide Perinatal Data System is utilized to capture data on births, NICU admissions and maternal/neonatal transports. These data points are then analyzed and used to improve the quality of care region wide. For extensive CNY Information, visit: www.upstate.edu/cmatch . The Center for Maternal and Child Health (CMATCH) is a collaboration of efforts by members of SUNY Upstate Medical University team aimed at using education, research, and patient care to improve the outcome of pregnancy.
